2700-2000 I BCE - Bronze Age: In what now United Arab Emirates during the Bronze Age , a culture called Umm an-Nar ( from the name of island off the coast of Abu Dhabi) was thriving.
2000BCE- 500BCE - Iron Age: Trading connection recorded. The region was an important source of Copper.
224-630: The Sasanian Empire ruled on all the Arabic Peninsula.
632: Islam spread over the region.
660-750: The area of the UAE was an important staging post on the commercial route linkin Oman to Iraq.
1000-1500: Trading with the far East started. Pearls from the Arabic coast were exported by dhows while silk and porcelain were imported.
1500-1600: The Portuguese took control of the Arabic Coast.
1620-1820: The British started their conquest over the Arabic Peninsula.
1820-1900: The pearl industry was the pillar of the UAE economy. In 1900 more then 1200 boats were involved into the trading markets. But at the beginning of the 1920's the industry collapsed because of the discovery of the cultured pearls production. Today pearling is undertaken to preserve the national heritage.
